The GL rule
GL + I = the soft «GLI» sound
Before an i, GL makes the soft sound: figlio, famiglia, moglie, aglio, foglia. For this sound use the GLI button (it joins A, E, O → glia, glie, glio).
Hard GL (g-l) only comes before A, E, O, U → gla, gle, glo, glu (globo, gladiatore, gleba, glutine).
